The Power of Showing Up: My Boudoir Photography Journey in Palm Springs
Boudoir photography isn’t just about capturing beautiful images; it’s about embracing vulnerability and finding empowerment in the process. I was reminded of this during a recent photography workshop experience, where things didn’t go as planned.
I was anxious and embarrassed, driving two hours to what I thought was the right location, only to find out I was an hour away from the actual workshop. With the clock ticking and most of the workshop nearly over, I had a choice: head back home or lean into the discomfort and show up late. I thought about the courage my boudoir clients show every day, the way they walk into my Los Angeles boudoir studio, often nervous, yet determined to embrace the experience. Inspired by their bravery, I decided to do the same.
The workshop, titled The Art of Painterly Nudes, was an opportunity I didn’t want to miss. I took a deep breath, rolled down the windows of my car, and powered up the mountain to the true location—100-degree weather and all. I arrived with just 40 minutes left, feeling dehydrated and anxious, but the warm welcome I received made it worth every second.
Misty Moss (@misty.moss) greeted me with open arms and assured me it was no big deal. She instantly encouraged me to jump into the session, and just like that, I was part of the creative flow. The other attendees, passionate artists in their own right, made me feel a sense of community—a feeling that fuels my love for boudoir photography in Los Angeles.
While I wish I could have attended the entire workshop, the lessons learned in those 40 minutes were invaluable. Watching Misty work and seeing how other photographers captured the beauty of the human form inspired me to bring even more depth and artistry to my boudoir sessions. It reminded me that showing up—whether it's at a workshop or in front of the camera—can make all the difference.
I’m grateful to Misty Moss and Katie for creating a space that celebrates vulnerability, artistry, and the power of being present. The experience reignited my passion for helping women find their confidence through boudoir photography, right here in Los Angeles and Orange County!
